ABOUT ARS

Addiction Recovery Services (ARS) provides intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) for alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and co-occurring mental health symptoms from our Seacoast, NH location in Greenland — a short drive from Portsmouth, Dover, and the surrounding Seacoast region.

Our team includes licensed clinicians, social workers, and a medical director who oversee every part of treatment, from psychiatric consultation to group therapy to medication-assisted treatment (MAT). We treat alcohol use disorder and drug addiction the same way we’d want a family member treated: with respect, a real choice in their care, and a plan built around the person, not just the diagnosis.

ALCOHOL TREATMENT

Alcohol addiction often needs a different approach than opioid or stimulant treatment. Different withdrawal risks, different relapse triggers, different family dynamics. Our clinicians build alcohol-specific treatment plans within IOP, and can help coordinate medical alcohol detox referrals before treatment begins if needed.

MEDICATION-ASSITED TREATMENT (MAT)

For eligible clients, MAT combines FDA-approved medication with counseling to reduce cravings and support long-term recovery from opioid or alcohol use disorder, under direct physician oversight.

Frequently Asked Questions ABOUT IOP

What level of care is outpatient?

Outpatient care is best for those who still need help but do not require hospitalization.

Which is better, inpatient or outpatient?

Both inpatient and outpatient have their positives. An inpatient program can be a great starting point for those beginning their journey to recovery. It can allow you to safely stop your substance use if that is what they wish to do. However, staying at the facility for your entire treatment is required. An outpatient program allows you to go home at the end of the day. This level of care is often a step down from an inpatient program and gives you more freedom in your treatment plan.

What is considered outpatient treatment?

Outpatient treatment does not require staying at the facility while you complete treatment.

What is outpatient treatment for mental health?

Outpatient treatment for mental health is a service that treats you for conditions such as depression, anxiety, or substance use disorders and does not require staying at the facility.

Do I need medical detox before starting alcohol treatment?

Some people do, especially with heavy or long-term alcohol use, since alcohol withdrawal can be medically serious. We assess this during intake and can help coordinate a detox referral before you start IOP if it’s needed.

Is outpatient alcohol treatment covered by insurance?

Most major insurance plans cover outpatient alcohol and drug treatment, including the plans we accept. We can verify your coverage before you commit to anything.

Real Alumni and Fellow Practitioners Speaking to Their Experiences With ARS

I attended many IOP programs before finding this one and this one was by far the best. The program was great I felt really comfortable there and the staff was the best I’ve ever worked with. I’ve been sober over 3 years since attending and I am lucky I found them.

ARS provided an indispensible foundation to build upon when I attended their intensive outpatient program in fall 2017. Their welcoming staff and environment were able to tackle the situation I'd found myself in with an individualized plan to work towards being my best self. We discussed and implemented many tools that have very much played a large role in getting to where I am today. I really enjoyed the group therapy aspect as well as it benefitted myself and others to have people to relate to at various points in recovery. Long story short - I always looked forward to attending sessions and will suggest ARS to anyone in my life who is seeking assistance in putting their respective vices in the past. Thank you for everything ARS!

- H.S. (5 Star Google Review)

"The clinicians at ARS are so helpful, knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated to helping each individual who is seeking treatment to achieve their goals, whatever they may be. They are always supportive no matter the circumstance, and truly dive into matters of addiction, mental health, communication, self-esteem, and so many other topics. Their onsite psychologist and PT are also very helpful and an excellent added bonus to the program. I found I learned the same if not more than from the other group members and finally felt like I WAS NOT ALONE in this struggle. They also have an aftercare program for those who complete their IOP treatment for afterwards, which I personally find very helpful. I couldn’t recommend this program or the people enough."

"Great people. Great program. I would highly recommend anyone still sick and suffering to reach out..."
- Mike B (5 Star Google Review)

This program saved my life. I was on a destructive path and after several attempts at sobriety and my wits end I was put in touch with ARS. They truly care about the health, future and well being of their clients, long after you complete the program. In a safe and comfortable environment, you will learn about why and how to get better. I was an addict of 10 years before going to this program. I am now drug and alcohol free over a year after completing. I have the respect of my family back, I am gainfully and respectively employed, engaged and expecting a child soon. Without the help of ARS and the tender support of a group I am certain I would have none of this. Getting my life back and making connections with people that want what is best for you is what this program is all about. You will find educated and nurturing staff willing to help you however they can. I am certain of I can do it, you can too. Please do right by yourselves and your loved ones and call ARS today. It will be a decision you will be glad you made from the day you start. Flexible scheduling makes it work for any schedule.

10 years addicted
14 months sober.

Alive. Happy. Thriving.

Richard C. - (5 Star Google Review)

Exactly 2 years ago I entered this facility. I was lost, scared and had absolutely no idea what my future would hold. The staff at ARS were the most compassionate and encouraging group of individuals I have ever met. I had completed an IOP program across the country and it didn't even compare to this program. I attribute my success in my personal and professional life to the staff. I would not be where I am without them.
